Democrat NYC mayor CONSIDERS rescinding Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ key to the city after video of rap star beating ex-gf goes viral

New York City Democrat Mayor Eric Adams said his administration has begun to consider rescinding the Key to the City awarded to Sean "Diddy" Combs. This follows allegations of abuse against the rapper, who was seen in a resurfaced 2016 surveillance video beating his girlfriend in an LA hotel.

On Monday, Adams told WPIX during an interview that he was "deeply disturbed" after seeing the video of Combs brutally beating his then-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, in the hallway a Los Angeles hotel in 2016.

Adams noted, "The committee and the team has never rescinded a key before, but we are now sitting down to see what the next steps forward are going to be. We are taking everything under analysis and the team will come back to me with a final determination."

According to the city’s website, the Key to the City is presented to people "whose service to the public and the common good rises to the highest level of achievement."

Fox News reported that Combs was given the award Sept. 15, 2023, after releasing his first studio album in 17 years. The outlet added that other recipients of the award included New York Police Det. Luis Alvarez, who was posthumously awarded the key for his advocacy for 9/11 survivors and first responders, the 1969 New York Mets, and the US Women’s National Soccer Team.
