A report from Mark Halperin on X has stated that President Joe Biden has agreed to step out of the presidential race, would endorse an open convention, and will not endorse Vice President Kamala Harris. Mark Halperin, who spoke about his assertions on Newsmax, cited unnamed sources that Biden's withdrawal from the presidential race could come as early as Sunday. This comes after intense public and private pressure on the president and continuous reports that he trails in the polls.
After Halperin's reporting, the Biden camp's TJ Ducklo told Fox News Digital's Brooke Singman that the report is "entirely inaccurate." Singman reported that another aid told her that "The President is more committed than ever to winning this election."
“According to my sources, President Biden has agreed to step down as the Democratic nominee. It will happen as early as this weekend," Halperin added.
"BREAKING NEWS," Halperin posted. "Multiples sources outline the apparent state of play on Biden at this time: * plans to announce withdrawal from nomination as early as this weekend, with Sunday most likely * Jon Meacham polishing up remarks * Biden with NOT resign the presidency * Biden will NOT endorse Harris * open convention with Harris and about 3 others * super delegates will not be allowed to vote on 1st ballot * Harris is vetting at least four possible running mates, including Andy Beshear and possibly Shapiro."
